You can update your 4 green bars to 10 to get a more accurate reflection of your ping.
Here is how (if you installed the game with the default path):
1. Go to My Computer
2. Go the your harddrive where you installed Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) normally C:
3. Go to: 'Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players
Open the file: config_mp.cfg with notepad
Change the following:
scoresping_interval 100
TO
scoresping_interval 20
Also change:
maxbars 4
TO
maxbars 10
Save the file and restart Modern Warfare 2
I have attached an example of how it will look once you have done this.
