[SOLUTION] Connect to internet through Iphone 4 on PC / laptop

Are you having trouble connecting to the internet through your IPhone 4 or even a previous version of IPhone? (IPhone 3) Apple has made this very easy to do. Just remember that data costs can run up quite quickly if you don't have a data bundle. Ok so all you do is the following: Make sure your phone is not plugged into the PC 1. On your IPhone go to Settings 2. General 3. Network 4. Scroll down to and go to Internet Tethering 5. Click ON on Internet Tethering 6. If you want to access the internet through Bluetooth select it, but I recommend USB only mode. Now all you do is plug your phone into your PC. In windows 7 this installed some drivers for me. Then it will automatically asks you for the new network's type (home, work or public location). And that's it. Now you can browse the internet through your IPhone's network. You might have noticed that your iphone does not have the above mentioned Internet Tethering option in your settings. With the release of the updated Firmware for you will find the settings have changed a bit as well as how it works. Iphone firmware update now allows something called Personal Hotspot. What this effectively does is it simulates a modem / router as if you had a connected DSL line in your house with a wireless access point. All technical jargon aside. 1. On your iphone go to settings 2. Go to Personal Hotspot 3. Set Personal Hotspot to ON 4. Now you will see Now Discoverable and Wi-Fi Password 5. Go to your laptop / pc and find the Wireless device that matches your iphone's name Please note this might take a while to show initially 6.
